Here is an explanation for how NYC PS and UAM categorize student attendance into different risk groups in order to provide systematic, data-driven interventions & supports

Not at Risk

95.01% - 100%

Students in this Attendance group are not considered to be at risk

At Risk

90.01% - 95%

Students in this Attendance group are considered "on the cusp" of chronic absenteeism 

Chronically
Absent

80.01% - 90%

Students in this Attendance group miss 10% or more of school days, about 2 absences per month and a minimum of 18 absences in the school year

Severely Chronically
Absent

0% - 80%

Students in this Attendance group fall below 80% attendance and require intensive intervention

UAM Attendance Goal for the 25-26 School Year

Goal: By June 2026, the percentage of students who are chronically absent will decrease by 5%, from 47% to 42%, as measured by the Insight Chronic Absenteeism Reports.
